FAQ

ABOUT KESERIYA

What is Keseriya?

Keseriya is a hand block printed table linen brand built around a simple belief - that the moments we gather around a table deserve to be beautiful. Each piece is made in small batches by skilled artisans in India, using a craft that has been passed down through generations. We exist because moments matter, and the things we bring to the table should feel as special as the people we share them with.

What does “Keseriya” mean?

Keseriya is the Hindi word for the color of Keser, saffron, the golden hue drawn from the crocus flower, which you’ll find nestled in our logo. We chose it because across cultures and across centuries, this color has always meant the same thing: celebration, weddings, festivals, and the joy of being together. For us, it means connecting with joy.

Why table linens?

Because the table is where life actually happens. There’s something about sitting close enough to share a meal but still having your own space - people relax into themselves. Friends open up. Families catch up in ways they don’t anywhere else. The conversations you remember from last year? They almost certainly happened at a table.

We wanted to make something that lives at the center of those moments - not folded away for a special occasion that never quite arrives. Hand block printed linens are made to be used, loved, and eventually passed down. Just for the feel of it.

THE CRAFT

What is hand block printing?

Hand block printing is an ancient textile art, practiced in India for centuries. Skilled artisans carve intricate designs into wooden blocks, then press them - one by one, by hand - onto fabric. Every impression carries the touch of the person who made it. There is no machine that can replicate that.

Are all pieces truly handmade?

Yes - every piece is printed by hand. Which means no two are exactly alike. You may notice subtle variations in print alignment, ink depth, or pattern. These are not flaws. They are the signature of a human hand at work. Made by people, for people. We think that is the whole point.

Who are the artisans behind your pieces?

Our first batch is led by Sachin, Pandit, and Raju - the skilled artisans behind our collections. We work in small batches deliberately, to honor their pace, their skill, and their livelihood. Every piece that reaches your table carries their hands in it.

Are your dyes safe and eco-conscious?

Yes. We are committed to processes that are good for the artisans who make our linens, the people who use them, and the world they all live in.

We use high-quality azo-free pigment dyes, selected to achieve the richness and consistency of color our designs call for while meeting industry safety standards. Our dyes are tested and verified to OEKO-TEX standards - internationally recognized certification that ensures they are safe for both the people who make our linens and the people who use them.

Every piece is carefully washed and finished after printing to remove any excess dye residue, so your linens arrive ready to use. A little color bleeding during the first few washes - especially in deeper shades - is completely natural in hand block printed textiles. It does not affect the quality or longevity of your piece. Washing separately for the first few washes, in cold water with a mild detergent, is all it takes.

OUR PRODUCTS

What fabric do you use?

Our table linens are made from 100% natural cotton - soft, breathable, and built for real life at the table. The fabric weight sits between 130 and 180 GSM: substantial enough to drape beautifully, light enough to feel effortless. Natural cotton gets better with every wash, softening into something that feels lived-in and loved, not stiff and ceremonial.

What sizes and pieces are available?

We are launching with a limited first batch of tablecloths and runners. As we grow, we plan to include more sizes and pieces in future production. If you need something specific, reach out - we love a good conversation.

Do colors look exactly as they do in photos?

We do our best to represent colors faithfully. Most of our product photos are taken in natural light to give you the truest sense of each piece - but screens vary, and because each piece is printed by hand, there may be subtle differences in shade or depth between pieces. Think of it as your piece being uniquely yours. If color accuracy is important to your decision, please reach out before ordering and we’ll help.

CARING FOR YOUR LINENS

How do I wash my Keseriya linens?

Machine wash on a gentle cold cycle with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals - they are hard on dyes and natural fibers. For the first few washes, we recommend washing separately to let any excess dye settle fully into the fabric.

Can I use the dryer?

Air drying is gentler on the fabric and the print - we recommend it whenever possible. If you do use a dryer, tumble dry on low. Your linens are not fragile, but a little thoughtfulness goes a long way toward keeping them beautiful for years.

How do I iron them?

Iron on the reverse side using low heat - this protects both the fabric and the print. A light steam from the outside works beautifully if you prefer a softer, more relaxed look. Either way, your table will be lovely.

Will the colors fade over time?

A little softening of color over time is natural - and, we think, beautiful. It is the nature of handmade things. With proper care (cold wash, shade dry, no bleach), your linens will hold their character for many years and become the kind of pieces that tell a story.

Will my linens shrink?

You can expect approximately 3% shrinkage - standard for natural cotton textiles, and nothing to be concerned about. Following the care instructions (cold wash, gentle cycle, line dry in shade) will keep any further shrinkage to a minimum and help your linens hold their shape and beauty over time.

Once shipped, you’ll receive an email with your tracking number. Please allow 24–48 hours for tracking information to update.

How long did it take to make my piece?

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

What is your return policy?

Because our pieces are made in small batches, we ask that you reach out within 30 days of receiving your order if something isn’t right. Items must be unwashed and in their original condition. Write to us at hello@keseriya.com and we’ll work through it together - thoughtfully.

Can I exchange for a different size or color?

We will do our best. Subject to availability, exchanges are possible - please reach out to us before placing a new order so we can guide you to the right solution without unnecessary back-and-forth.

GIFTING & CUSTOM ORDERS

Are your linens good for gifting?

They are made for it. A set of block printed napkins, a tablecloth for a new home, a runner for someone who loves to entertain - these are the kinds of gifts people remember long after the occasion has passed. Add a personal message at checkout and we will include it with your order.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes. Add your personal note at checkout and we’ll include it with your order. Words alongside a handmade gift feel right.

Do you do custom or bespoke orders?

We love a good creative conversation. If you’re interested in a specific colorway, a custom size, or a larger order for a special occasion - a wedding, a family gathering, a corporate event - reach out to us. We’ll tell you honestly what is possible and what isn’t.

Do you work with boutiques or wholesale buyers?

Selectively, yes. We work with shops and boutiques whose values align with ours - a genuine appreciation for craft, for artisans, and for the customer who cares about where things come from. If you think we’d be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you.

Still have a question? We’d love to hear from you hello@keseriya.com, a real person reads every email.
