The stripes on these mats reflect the roads to Amer Fort, bold, grounding, made to be used.
Reversible. Ochre and ivory on one side, warm and striking. Celadon and ivory on the other, quieter and cooler.
Stripes are one of the hardest things to block print by hand. The lines shift, vary, and sometimes the block leaves more dye in one spot than another. Every slight variation is a signature of the artist's hand.
We wanted quilted placemats with more structure and softness. So we made them flannel filled. Designed to live with the full Amer collection on your table

You'll notice that the images are the same as the ones for the Amer Hand-Dyed Napkins because I got both! I definitely needed the placemats because my husband and I are messy eaters, but we're also striving to have more adult tableware. The material is satisfyingly thick and structured, but they're still pliable enough to store easily in my kitchen cabinets. I love the pattern on both sides of the placemats (the stripes have these little variations up close that make them feel handmade). It genuinely feels like I got two placemats for the price of one. Grown-up tableware that can actually survive us. Highly recommend. I can't wait to own more of this collection!
KKeseriya3 weeks agoSormeh, "messy eaters who also want to be adults" made me laugh because honestly, that's true in our house too 😊 In fact, the heat stains on my own dining table are the reason these placemats are quilted!
